Cold and Quiet

Its been a quiet cold month so far; too cold and windy to walk, and Im only making it to the gym once a week. I've pulled out my acrylics, and played around with paint, and I've been reading cookbooks. I read cookbooks like other people read a novels. I get very excited about trying new recipees, but it always seems like Im one or two ingredients short; I have a pretty well stocked pantry, but creme fraiche isnt something I keep on hand...I can however, make fettuccini alfredo at a moments notice

Liam turned twelve, and we celebrated with a sushi lunch and Megans famous chocolate cake. His present was my old iphone, sneakily wrapped in a box of mac and cheese; he is delighted. He has started coming over to drink coffee with me, and we continue to enjoy our games of Parcheesi.

Victor and I met friends for beer, and Kevin, who bakes the best bread in Asheville, brought us a still warm loaf. It was devoured withing 24 hours. We also went to a house warming/birthday party and had a great time...I love when the dancing starts. We had dinner out and stopped by the wine bar, where the crowd is all our age, and we all dance like we are still in our twenties, because while our bodies age, who we are is still young.

And now I have to go make a cup of coffee for LIam who just walked in with the Parcheesi box.
